Donovan Donovan’s Greatest Hits

Donovan Donovan’s Greatest Hits
(1969) Epic label. Purchased new reissued in 1979 from Gillette’s Records in Riverside.  So many of these songs I sang as a child.  I have such a kinship with Donovan’s voice, the trippy titles of his songs, and the imagination they inspire.  This is a great album.  The entire package brings you the best of his early catalog.  It is heavy with the 60’s sound of guitar in that bohemian San Francisco style and the drum heavy with tap-tapping of the high-hat and snare.  Perfect for burning some incense, drinking some wine, and feeling very California.

  6. Season Of The Witch  (4:46)

My girls and I loved dancing to There Is A Mountain when they were little.  My first email address had Hurdy Gurdy Man in it until it became very unfashionable to use something so silly or unprofessional or L O N G in an email address. I was in a doctors office waiting room recently and Mellow Yellow was playing.  I smiled.
